Topsail Island Playgrounds Offer Free Fun For All!

Need a break from the beach? Try a local playground!

If you have little ones, you may be searching for a spot to play that isn't next to a potentially dangerous ocean (or full of sand). Playgrounds offer the perfect spot for kids to climb, swing, and burn off energy. Plus, it's a free activity to add to your vacation itinerary! Topsail Island is home to several really great parks and playgrounds. We hope this list helps you add to an already wonderful Topsail Island vacation.

Soundside Park

517 Roland Ave, Surf City

Soundside Park is well-known as Surf City's go-to spot for free concerts, markets, a boat ramp, and boardwalk. It's also a great spot to launch a kayak.  As of 2019, it also boasts a really fun pirate-themed playground!

Kenneth D. Batts Family Park

911 S Topsail Drive, Surf City

This park has a playground, but it also offers  a basketball court which is ideal for older kids. There are restrooms and plenty of parking, too. The park is named after a well-known local councilman who served on the committee that secured the land for this great park.

Nelva K. Albury Park

213 Broadway St, Surf City

Offering several different climbing structures (including a rock wall), the Nelva K. Albury Park is a nice stop on your park tour of Topsail Island. It's located just steps from the beach, and is also close to plenty of great Topsail Island rentals

North Topsail Beach Town Park

(also known as Richard C. Peters Town Park)

465 New River Inlet Road, North Topsail Beach

Located right across from Onslow County Beach Access # 4, this park has a little "Tot Lot" as well as volleyball, tennis and basketball courts. There is also a pier, kayak launch and a nature trail. This park was severely damaged during Hurricane Florence, but is back and better than ever as of July, 2020.

Topsail Beach Town Center

630 Davis Ave, Topsail Beach

Staying in Topsail Beach? There is a playground for you, too! The Topsail Beach Town Center has a playground as well as two pickleball courts, basketball courts, and restrooms. This project was finally completed in 2017 after many years of discussion! The pickleball courts were much-requested ... have you ever played?

Visiting a local playground is a great way to spend some time with your family while enjoying the fresh air. Bring a picnic and let the kids run around. Topsail Island is a family-friendly place that welcomes local residents and visitors to enjoy everything Parks and Rec has to offer. Looking for a Topsail Island rental?
